Serving Our Community
As Klamath County's designated Community Mental Health Program (CMHP) and a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), KBBH provides coordinated behavioral health services designed to meet the needs of our entire community.
These designations reflect our commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality care while bringing together mental health services, substance use treatment, crisis response, peer support, care coordination, and community partnerships under one organization.
Growing with the Klamath Basin

A Community Vision Takes Root
Klamath Child and Family Treatment Center opened its doors with a simple mission: provide behavioral health services for local children close to home. Starting with just eight staff members, the organization focused on counseling and day treatment for youth and laid the foundation for decades of community care.

Expanding Support for Children & Families
As community needs grew, so did KBBH. School-based services, psychiatric care, group therapy, and crisis response expanded access for children and families throughout the Klamath Basin. Community partnerships and the Klamath Kids Count campaign helped establish the organization's long-term home on Eldorado Avenue.

Building a Stronger Community
The organization broadened its focus beyond treatment by investing in prevention, early intervention, restorative justice, and family support programs. New partnerships strengthened the continuum of care and helped address behavioral health before crises occurred.

Becoming Klamath Basin Behavioral Health
A defining moment came when KBBH was designated Klamath County's official Community Mental Health Program (CMHP). This expanded the organization's responsibility from primarily serving youth to providing behavioral health services for adults, families, and the broader community.
Adult outpatient care, substance use treatment, crisis response, and residential services were added to meet growing community needs.

Leading Innovation in Behavioral Health
KBBH became one of Oregon's early Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs), helping establish a new model of coordinated, accessible behavioral healthcare. This milestone expanded services, strengthened care coordination, and improved access for anyone seeking support.

Meeting New Challenges
As the community faced new challenges, KBBH continued to grow. The organization quickly adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic, opened the Link Access Center with registered sobering services, expanded crisis care, and invested in new residential treatment facilities to meet increasing behavioral health needs. Leadership also transitioned to CEO Kendall Alexander, ushering in the next chapter of growth and innovation.

Still Centered on Care
Today, KBBH is home to nearly 300 dedicated team members providing more than 30 behavioral health programs and services to over 6,500 individuals each year. While much has changed since 1980, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to helping every person find hope, healing, and support close to home.
